What Are The Three Phases of Aging?

Facial aging is an inevitable and natural process.  However, certain individuals tend to age more gracefully than others.  From early on, we learn that having a smooth, clear complexion is an attribute of physical and emotional attractiveness.  As we age, maintaining that healthy glow becomes more difficult.  Aging actually has three phases:

Sub-Clinical Phase, ages 25-35: Skin has great elasticity, great tone and generally healthy.  However, internal cellular damage is already happening and most all hormone levels start to decrease.

Transition Phase, ages 35-45: Production on many hormones has fallen more than 25% and biomarkers are beginning to show aging.  Sun damage becomes apparent as do fine lines and skin collagen and elastin breaks down.  Cellular damage by free radicals increases and if not controlled or slowed mutational changes can lead to aging problems.

Clinical Phase, ages 45 and above: Hormones decline, including DHEA and Melatonin. Increased frown lines appear, as well as age spots and hyperpigmentation, also known as sun spots.  Mouth/lip lines appear are more pronounced, there is more loss of skin elasticity especially in the chin and eye area.

However, by beginning a complete rejuvenation package now, you can minimize many of these sypmtoms.  Your professional esthetician will work with you to design technologically advanced treatments to offset the external signs of aging and leave you with radiant, supple smoother complexion!

 What's In A Wrinkle?

Wrinkles are a part of our body's natural aging process, formed when the internal structures of the deep skin layers (dermis) break down.  The connective tissues of our skin are elastin and collagen fibers, which give skin its firmness and flexibility.  As we age, our bodies process less collagen and elastin.  Our muscles begin to sag, we experience a loss of fat cells (which are responsible for plumbness), and we develop creases from the facial expressions we make each and every day of our lives.  Repetitive facial motions and sleep patterns bring frown lines and folds.  Sunglasses can mitigate squint lines.  At what age and how quickly our skin ages are different for different people.

As the skin ages, it is not able to bond enough moisture to itself, and so lines and wrinkles begin to appear.  The natural collagen and elastin are increasingly decomposed, causing it to lose its elasticity and youthful tone.  Cell regeneration and new growth slows, causing dullness and uneven tone.

Unfortunately, while growth slows in many areas, one area that keeps growing is skin, contributing to that sagging appearance we see in our later years.

The best wrinkle therapy is to stimulate production of collagen.  With regular consultations and treatments we can visibly enhance your skin's firmness while the skin takes on a more healthy youthful look.  We have the techniques you have been waiting for!

What is Photoaging?

Photoaging (sun exposure) plays a big part in the aging symptoms and characteristics.  More than 80% of the damaging exposure occurs before the age of 18 - the effects just take a while to show up.

Photoaging causes deepening of our wrinkles, a rough and leathery appearance, discoloration, blotchiness, an increase to small tiny blood vessels and a tendency to appear more like an alligator than a baby's youthful and vibrant skin.

Fortunately, photoaging can be altered between the initial exposure and the manifestation of symptoms through consistent efforts in professional repair treatments.  A number of non-surgical refinishing treatments are available for individuals who want to eliminate or soften imperfections and achieve a clearer, fresher look.

Your responsibility is two-fold - avoidance and treatments.  The damage occured over time, and the solution too will take time - but it's worth it!  Take on a new attitude toward aging and the sun - and slow down your aging process!

Non Invasive Treatments

Non invasive facial rejuvenation treatments are the latest technologically advanced developments in theaesthetics field for those who wish to reduce the signs of aging - wrinkles, expression lines, flacidity and sagging without painful procedures or downtime.

Some non invasive treatments can stimulate the production of collagen.  The new collagen fills in and softens the appearance of wrinkles and aging skin.  Other treatments can give you a facial "workout" which firms and tightens the skin.  Rejuvenation treatments can also influence the behavior of skin cells and improve circulation for proactive actions against aging.

Give yourself the perfect gift.  A gift that brings rejuvenation, that makes skin glow, that returns suppleness of youth to your skin and brings out your natural radiance.  The perfect gift allows you to look in the mirror and find a reflection that matches the depth of your own beauty and loving what you see!
